In the Operate phase of the investment there are multiple opportunities to capture (and destroy) value. We help clients ensure their investments outperform projected financial and ESG outcomes.

Reporting and Identifying Hidden Value

  • We develop sophisticated but intuitive data analytics and reporting solutions and facilitate integration with client systems. These are designed to help investors monitor their investments and reveal insights that lead to better investment planning and decision-making.

  • We ensure clients and their stakeholders have access to the full suite of investment, management, financial, tax, and statutory reporting required for compliance and monitoring investment performance.

Risk Management

  • We understand the unique legislative, regulatory, political, and physical asset risks associated with the Timberland investment class, and ensure management strategies and policies are in place to mitigate or avoid them.

Responsible Investment

  • We ensure that Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals and objectives are aligned and embedded in management strategy.

  • We develop monitoring processes to track ESG outcomes that align with clients’ reporting requirements and ensure transparency to clients’ stakeholders.

Management Strategy and Performance Improvement

  • We review and/or develop strategic planning processes that drive performance improvement across the investment, land, forest, and wood supply value chain.

  • Assessing current-state forest management processes against best-practice standards, we identify gaps and improvement opportunities.

Forest Valuation

  • We utilize tailored forest planning and valuation services that provide much deeper insight than annual appraisals. These services are designed to support identification of investment performance improvement opportunities, hold-sell analysis, and strategy development.

  • We review independent appraisals and strategic and tactical wood flow plans and financial models used for internal valuations and hold/sell analyses.

Markets and Price Forecasting

  • We maintain up to date domestic and export market intelligence to support near-term and long-term decision making.

  • Using one of our key partners, we provide industry-leading econometric log and chip price forecasts.
